Meghan Hudson, artist

I’m Meghan Hudson, the maker behind h.made studio. I currently live and work in Athens, Georgia but I call a little Northeast Georgia town in Franklin County home.  My family has instilled in me a love of laughter, good food, stories, and things of the past. When I’m not making, I’m a mom, wife, teacher, reader, and pickleballer.

My work has evolved and changed since 2017 when I began h.made studio, but one constant has remained—my work is always about the places, people, and the experiences that have shaped my story and my sense of home.  Whether it's a platter with the flower that bloomed by my aunt’s kitchen window, a vase impressed with a lace pattern belonging to my great grandmother, or serving pieces in accent colors inspired by dishes from family dinners growing up, my work depicts small, still frames of each of these experiences that have shaped my story. My process began by creating handmade wall tiles depicting patterns and shapes of places I’d traveled, and it has evolved into a combination of many different processes to create hand built, slab ceramic pieces, both functional and decorative that I hope become family heirlooms in your home.

I hold a BFA in Art Education from the University of Georgia (2004) and a MFA in Art Education from Piedmont College (2009).  The beautiful timing of many elements allowed me to begin h.made studio in the fall of 2017.
